The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (BSN) of Purbanchal University is a four years academic program. Theaimof this program is to prepare competent professional nurses in education, administration andservice in respective level of health programsincluding problem identification, planning, implementing, and evaluation. BSN graduates can serve in various types of positions at national, federal, provincial and local level, for example, governmental or non-governmental health agencies, hospitals, communities, schools, campuses, and institutions.Besides, this they can work with special responsibilities; working directly with local communities and individuals, working primarily with schoolteachers and administration to provide health education and service, and preparing health workers in nursing fields.In general, BSc nursing graduates should be able to carry out the responsibilities a nursing care provider or middle level health care manager, faculty member and basic level researcher.

The general objective of the B.Sc. nursing program is to produce competent graduates with basic and advanced knowledge and practical skills necessary to deliver high-quality health services needed for the country. Specifically, the program entails the following general objectives:
There will be entrance examination of one paper (English -25 marks, Physics, chemistry, biology-50 and General Knowledge in health science-25 marks) conducted by Purbanchal University. The question will be multiple choices. Duration of examination will be 2 hours. Candidates must obtain at least 50% marks to pass entrance examination. Candidates will be selected on the basis of merit list.
Various methods of teaching learning will be used in participatory approach. Lecture, discussion, group discussion, demonstration, self-directed learning, problem-based learning, observation, simulation in skill lab, field and clinical practical, written assignments, project work, group presentation and other as per need of the subject.

After completion of this course, individuals will becomeeligible candidates for registration in the Nepal Nursing Council (NNC) to become a registered nursethat permit them to work in various organizations like,hospitals, nursing homes, community health care centers, nursing colleges, schools, and other health institutions of government and the non-government sectoras a registered nurse. The BSN candidates canwork straight with local communities and entities, including as school health teacher, health educator, direct care provider, researcher and health programme planner, implementer, supervisorand evaluator.In general, the graduates can carry out the responsibilities of various health institutions such as Nursing Officer, Basic Level Investigator, and Clinical Care Provider. Furthermore, upon completion of BSC nursing, the graduates can pursue their higher education (master level) anywhere in Nepal or foreign countries.

This course is based on the job required to perform by the Registered Nurse at different levels in the public and private sector’s health field concerning nursing jobs in Nepal. Therefore, this curriculum is designed to provide the student with theoretical concepts as well as practical skills required to deliver high-quality health services in the nation and abroad. The program comprises twenty-four courses including Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Applied Computer Technology, Educational Science, Leadership Management, Mental Health Nursing, and Advanced Nursing Practice, etc. The first-yearcourse is focused on basic sciences courses applied in nursing and fundamentalcourses in nursing practices or basic nursing care; the second-year course is focused on nursing concepts/theory/principles, medical-surgical nursing, medical sociology, and community nursing; the third-year course comprises of pediatric, midwifery, and community health nursing; and the fourth-year course focused on nursing leadership and management, research, and educational science.
This programme consists Two Hundred Sixty-Three (263)credits hours (including theory and practical). One credit equals 16 lecture hours in the theory and 32 clinical/field hours in practical.
